Call for accessibility 1,5 meter furnishing

The flow of ideas is large, but does not seem to be in a balanced context yet. With the best of intentions, plans arise that serve specific interests from the perspective of the organization or company. It is not certain whether this does justice to the interests of society in the broadest sense. In short, there is as yet no control over these kinds of complicated developments. It is not without reason that the Eye Association draws special attention to people with a visual impairment in this context. However, this special attention should be broadened. People with a motor limitation, sensory handicaps, speech and language handicaps and consciousness disorders will have to be given attention in the ideation and plan development.

The municipality of Bergen op Zoom recently embraced the idea of inclusion. Bergen op Zoom became a frontrunner municipality in the 'Everyone participates' program of the Association of Dutch Municipalities. The time has come to take control at the local level and to bring the ideas from society into a balanced coherence. Accessible Bergen op Zoom calls on the municipality to take on this role. In addition, Accessible Bergen op Zoom asks organizations and companies to pay attention to the large group of people with disabilities and vulnerable elderly people in their planning developments. It is also important for these people to lead their lives as independently as possible. The current circumstances make it even more difficult for them.
